My name is Leslie Marshall and I have lived in East Pennsboro Township for almost 20 years. My husband and I moved to EP specifically because we knew we wanted to start a family and this was the community and school district where we wanted to do it.
I became a School Board Director when appointed to fill a vacancy in 2018 and was subsequently elected to serve a 4 year term. I have been serving at the Vice President for the past 3 years.
For me being on the School Board is my way to contribute to my community. I believe my experience as an attorney provides me with valuable skills that allow me to help our Board navigate the complex regulatory landscape that we must operate in.
Having two children in the district helps me have eyes and ears on the happenings in our schools. It keeps me grounded in the fact that every decision I make as a Board member has real student impact.
I am seeking reelection because I believe that after 5 years on the Board, I have a solid understanding of Board operations and I have more that I can contribute. Unfortunately, the pandemic had unexpected financial implications for our school district because of the state based cyber charter funding formulas. Due to an unprecedented number of students transitioning to cyber charter schools, we are facing a challenging budget. I would like to continue to serve on the Board and continue to work through this challenge and find a path forward that benefits not only our students, but also our community and taxpayers. Providing our students and families with quality education while being mindful that we must act as good stewards of our tax dollars is my motivation for serving the community as a School Board Director.
Vote Leslie Marshall for School Director, 4 year term on November 7!
